Dad loved the color GREEN...He always said that, "ANY color is pretty... as long as it's GREEN!"

A Tribute to
Hannah Molland Byington

By Fay Byington
When I am gone will eager children look within the pages of this family history. Their questioning eyes find something here to show fulfilled ambition, finished task; will they know pride, that I left footprints here below?
Will all the little tasks of love be lost forever, as a fluff of thistledown- No heartache, tears, frustrations' cast Nor valor shown, when I am gone-Nothing of me to spur them to go on? Or will they say of me, "she still belongs, Her life was made of sunshine and of songs. Where she walked some radiant memory Of charm, of wit, of kindliness in giving. The paths she trod made surer by her living!"
Will they smile a wee bit wistfully, while thumbing through this family history - and for a moment will they pause to listen for my heart beat in its pages; will they look further, wishing to know more of me, and close the page -- a tear left to my memory.
"Let yourself be glad you're alive... Have genuine happiness despite your condition.
Enjoy Laughter. It's available everywhere once you start looking for it!"

The One That Got Away
How chilling the fall wind That brings an unborn memory From a future cool October day When I will cease to be...
I see my Grandson look across a flowing river And tell his child of the fishing of his youth And the man that once was me... I choke with an eerie sadness Until I see a smile born in his youth... A smile that once we shared on such a river Those many years ago when he was young and I was me... As he turns his head I see a tear Flow gently down to reach his smile. It's then I know a special part of me Still lives within his heart... and there I'll be his friend, his Pa, his teacher...
I lay my head back and feel warm tears Gently race their random way down my face. I rest beside the gentle flowing river of life Allowing my fears and dreams to fall like leaves Upon the water of today and then watch As they slowly drift their way to that distant future Where I'll live in happy stories of the one that got away.

I Know Something Good About You
Wouldn't this old world be better if folks we meet would say: "I know something good about you". And then treat you just that way?
Wouldn't it be fine and dandy if each handclasp, warm and true, carried with it this assurance: "I know something good about you"?
Wouldn't life be lots more happy if the good that's in us all were the only things about us that folks bothered to recall?
Wouldn't life be lots more happy if we praised the good we see? For there's such a lot of goodness in the worst of you and me.
Wouldn't it be nice to practice that fine way of thinking too: "You know something good about me, I know something good about you"?
This poem was read at Daniel Tyler's funeral by his Grand-daughter June Martineau Vigor.

On Happiness
The way to be happy is to make others happy.
Few of us get dizzy from doing too many good turns.
Friendship is the only cement that will ever hold the world together.
If you see someone without a smile give him one or yours.
It costs nothing to say something nice about someone, try it today.
Efficiency is intelligent laziness.
The person who admits he has a lot to learn has already learned a lot.
Children need love especially when they don't deserve it.
To share with a friend is to see twice the beauty.

We Are A Family
Since before any of us were born, God planned for us to share our lives together. He knew exactly how our strengths and weaknesses would balance one another and the depth of love, understanding, and commitment we would learn to feel. He knew the richness of our separate characters would be born as a result of overcoming the trials together. He knew that we would laugh together and cry together. He knew we would need each other....to hug....to help....to teach....to serve....to Love.....
