Donald J. Christensen
started playing piano at age 5, (only because his older brother, Dave, was
taking lessons). In 1966 he started playing in a band with some of the
kids in the neighborhood. He played at parties and high school dances.
One day he was spotted by the guitarist of the most popular band in town and was
asked to join.
This group became the "Affection Collection" and the 5 man group was very popular. In 1967, they recorded the first of many 45's and later signed a 5 year recording contract with United Artists and the Norman Petty Productions Co. They released several singles and 1 album. The band played all around the Western United States while at the same time made time for college!
Don has many years of experience in the recording studio, and has engineered over 50 albums for various artists, All styles of music. He has also played keyboards on many of these projects and has added vocal backups as well.
In 1998-2000 Don performed in a 5 man band in Branson, Missouri. He was the band leader and keyboardist for the Hughes Brothers Show.
Don has also had the opportunity to play back up music for or be in the opening act prior to the shows for several Stars like: Michael Martin Murphy, C.W. McCall, The Moody Blues, Gary Puckett, Dan Seals, Wanda Jackson, Tommy Cash, Jett Williams, Little Jimmy Dickens, Jeannie Seely, Tommy Overstreet, Black Oak Arkansas, The Byrds, Herman's Hermits, Valeri Glava and more...
